Scholarships are types of aid that help students pay for their education. Unlike loans, they do not have to be repaid. Scholarship criteria vary. Generally, scholarships are reserved for students with special qualifications, such as academic merit, artistic talent, and/or financial need.

The MDCC Development Foundation provides donors with the opportunity for two types of scholarships, either Annual Scholarships or establishing an Endowed Scholarship.

ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIPS

Annual scholarship funds at MDCC are fueled by the support of our alumni and friends. Through their contributions, we empower deserving students with the opportunity to pursue their educational dreams. Donors have the flexibility to decide, year after year, to perpetuate this vital scholarship funding, ensuring a legacy of academic empowerment for generations to come.

ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIPS

Endowed scholarships provide a continued source of financial assistance for MDCC’s students and create a lasting legacy for the donor. Endowed gifts can be given as a single gift, a series of gifts over the donor’s lifetime or a combination of lifetime and deferred gifts. An endowment must reach $15,000 within five years to become endowed.

Scholarships will be awarded once the corpus reaches the minimum required funding level of $15,000 and after the funds have been invested for a required amount of time. Because the principal of the endowment is never spent, such a gift represents an enduring tribute to the person honored by the fund.
