General Support

  • The MDCC Foundation’s Annual Fund serves as the cornerstone of the MDCC Foundation’s financial stability and mission-driven work. As the Foundation’s primary operating budget, the Annual Fund provides essential support for the day-to-day functions that make fundraising and stewardship possible. These resources cover critical needs such as staff salary support, donor-management and fundraising software, office supplies, marketing materials, administrative fees, and other operational expenses that ensure the Foundation can function efficiently and professionally.

    Beyond sustaining operations, the Annual Fund also creates a flexible pool of resources that allows the Foundation to respond to the broader needs of the college. Gifts to the Annual Fund help support general campus priorities, emerging needs, and small but meaningful projects that enhance the student and campus experience. This flexibility enables the Foundation to assist the institution wherever support is most needed—whether strengthening student programs, improving facilities, or contributing to initiatives that benefit the MDCC community as a whole.

    In this way, the MDCC Annual Fund not only fuels the internal capacity of the Foundation but also actively advances the overall mission of the college.

  • The Emergency Student Support Fund provides immediate, short-term financial assistance to MDCC students facing unexpected hardships. Offering up to $400 per student, this fund helps cover urgent needs such as housing instability, food insecurity, transportation challenges, medical expenses, or other unforeseen circumstances that threaten a student’s ability to remain enrolled and succeed.

    This fund is a vital lifeline for many of our students. Even a small setback can derail a student’s education, and timely assistance can mean the difference between staying on track or having to withdraw. Because of this, the Emergency Student Support Fund is one of the most crucial resources the Foundation administers.

    Every dollar contributed directly helps a student in crisis. More funding means the Foundation can support more students, ensuring they have the stability and peace of mind needed to continue their studies and reach their goals. This fund embodies MDCC’s commitment to removing barriers and fostering student success—especially when students need us most.

  • Unrestricted giving refers to donations that are not designated for a specific program, scholarship, or project. Instead, these funds give the MDCC Foundation the flexibility to allocate resources where they are needed most. Because the needs of the college and its students can shift throughout the year, unrestricted gifts play an essential role in ensuring the Foundation can respond quickly and strategically.

    These contributions allow us to support high-priority initiatives, address unexpected challenges, and strengthen areas that may not have dedicated funding. Whether it’s bolstering student programs, enhancing campus resources, supporting operational needs, or filling critical gaps, unrestricted gifts ensure the Foundation can make the greatest impact at the right time.

Instructional Support

  • Developed in 2013, the first-ever privately funded faculty and staff development fund was created through the MDCC Development Foundation, Inc. and named in honor of Robert W. Steinriede. The fund is appropriately named after Steinriede, better known as Bobby. Mr. Steinriede served on the MDCC Board of trustees from 1979 to 1990. He was appointed by Governor Barbour in 2007 to serve on the Mississippi Community College Board. 

    Bobby is an MDCC alumnus having played football for Coach Randall in 1967. After graduation, Mr. Steinriede immediately went to work for Guaranty Bank. Bobby’s service to the banking industry spanned over 45 years. This program provides full-time faculty, part-time instructors, and staff the opportunity to develop projects that support the educational mission of MDCC. 

    This fund was created by Mr. Bryan Jones and aids in the growth and development of the college and its stakeholders.

  • The Office of Instruction’s General Fund provides flexible financial support that can be used at the discretion of the VP of Instruction/Provost and instructional leadership. Unlike restricted funds tied to specific programs or initiatives, this general fund allows the Office of Instruction to direct resources toward the most pressing academic needs as they arise.

    Support from this fund can enhance teaching and learning in a variety of ways—such as purchasing instructional materials, supporting faculty development, improving classroom technology, strengthening academic programs, or addressing unexpected needs that impact instructional quality. Because the demands of academic departments can change quickly, having a discretionary fund ensures the Office of Instruction can respond efficiently and strategically.

    In short, the Office of Instruction General Fund empowers academic leadership to maintain high-quality instruction, strengthen student learning experiences, and invest in opportunities that advance MDCC’s academic mission where and when they are needed most.

  • The Career–Technical Education (CTE) General Fund provides flexible support that can be used at the discretion of the Dean of CTE to strengthen and enhance MDCC’s technical and workforce programs. Because CTE programs often face rapidly changing industry demands, equipment needs, and certification requirements, this discretionary fund allows the dean to respond quickly and effectively.

    Resources from the CTE General Fund can be used to update tools and equipment, offer financial student support, faculty training, improve lab and classroom spaces, enhance safety measures, purchase program materials, or address unforeseen needs that arise throughout the academic year. This flexibility ensures that CTE programs remain current, competitive, and aligned with workforce standards.

    By contributing to the CTE General Fund, donors help ensure that students receive high-quality, industry-relevant training and that MDCC’s career-technical programs continue to meet the evolving needs of employers and the community.

  • The Culinary Excellence Fund supports the growth and quality of MDCC’s Culinary Arts program by providing flexible resources for instructional needs, equipment, and student learning opportunities. Gifts to this fund help maintain industry-standard tools and kitchen environments, support the purchase of ingredients and supplies, provide financial student support, and fund professional development or certifications that strengthen students’ career readiness.

    By contributing to the Culinary Excellence Fund, donors help ensure that MDCC’s culinary students receive hands-on, high-quality training that prepares them for success in the hospitality and foodservice industry.

  • Art Fund:
    The Art Fund supports the needs of the visual arts program, providing resources for materials, equipment, studio supplies, student projects, and program enhancements. Contributions help ensure students have access to quality tools and creative opportunities that enrich their artistic development.

    Band Fund:
    The Band Fund strengthens the college’s band program by supporting instrument purchases and repairs, music and equipment needs, travel support, and performance-related expenses. Gifts to this fund help students excel musically and represent MDCC in performances both on campus and in the community.

    Choir Fund:
    The Choir Fund provides essential support for choral music activities, including sheet music, performance attire, equipment, travel, and program development. Donor contributions help enhance the choir’s performances and create opportunities for students to grow as vocal musicians.
