Week of Giving Thanks: Day 3
Day 3 of the MDCC Foundation’s Week of Giving Thanks:
2025 Annual alumni Social
INDIANOLA, MS — The Mississippi Delta Community College (MDCC) Alumni Association hosted a memorable and well-attended celebration on November 1, 2025 at the Indianola Country Club, where alumni, friends, and supporters gathered for an evening filled with recognition, fellowship, and Trojan pride.
This annual event serves as a highlight of the fall semester, offering the MDCC family an opportunity to honor the achievements of its alumni and to reflect on the college’s long-standing legacy of excellence. The 2025 Fall Alumni Social continued that tradition by shining a spotlight on individuals who embody the spirit, values, and history of MDCC.
During the evening’s program, Doug Russell was honored as our 2025 Alumnus of the Year in recognition of his exceptional professional accomplishments, community leadership, and steadfast commitment to the college. Russell, a longtime supporter and advocate for MDCC, has exemplified what it means to carry the Trojan spirit beyond the campus and into the broader community.
In addition, Lamar Dukes received the Trojan Spirit Award, an honor reserved for individuals who demonstrate outstanding loyalty, enthusiasm, and service to the MDCC community. Duke’s enduring support and active engagement have made a lasting impact on the college, its students, and its alumni network. JaCoby Braboy welcomed Duke and presented him with his plaque at the social.
A particularly meaningful moment of the evening was the recognition of the 1993 Charter Officers, the founding leaders whose vision and dedication established the MDCC Alumni Association more than three decades ago. Even though some of them are no longer with us, their pioneering efforts laid the foundation for the vibrant and connected alumni community that exists today, truly leaving a lasting legacy on MDCC’s Alumni Association. The honorees included:
Becky Oakman
Bethe Becker
Beverly Tindall
Doug Russell
Gail Lloyd
Joel Henderson
Sandra Joiner
Sandra Moore
Guests enjoyed an atmosphere filled with gratitude and celebration as generations of Trojans reconnected, shared memories, and reflected on the impact MDCC has had on their lives and communities. The evening served as a heartfelt reminder that the strength of MDCC lies not only in its programs and campus, but in the people who continue to support, uplift, and believe in its mission.
As we give thanks for the alumni who shaped our past, support our present, and inspire our future, the MDCC Alumni Association and Development Foundation remain committed to building meaningful relationships, expanding opportunities for students, and celebrating the remarkable achievements of our Trojan family.
